I have the pleasure of volunteering my time with the Munster Police Department and the Choice Community Council. Last week our community came together to celebrate the town's 25th Annual National Night Out Against Crime activities. Typically this is held the first Tuesday in August and is a much larger community event, but due to COVID-19 Pandemic the association moved the date so towns can plan socially distanced activities!
Let me tell you about the Town of Munster's efforts. They were awesome! Day began with a food drive and then we had parades throughout town and great participation from the public. So many positive cheers as we drove by. Many even displayed blue lights to support the police! Thank you to the Girl Scouts Troop 15103 who provided hundreds of support signs that were displayed all over Munster during the parades.
It was a great day to celebrate community all around! National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
What does community mean to you?
Thank you again to everyone for your support this year!
